Letterman returns

The Late Show with David Letterman is set to return to UK screens. The CBS chat show has been picked up by Diva TV, the new channel from the Hallmark stable set to launch in the autumn.

Letterman has had a bizarre history in the UK, acclaimed by critics but unable to sustain ratings. SKY One, Paramount, ITV2 and ITV4 have all screened the series at various times but all eventually relegated it until after midnight and then dropped the series.

Linus Roache is joining the cast of Law and Order, dropping out of his role in the Julianna Marguilies vehicle Canterburys Law....Meanwhile brand new Special Victims Unit premieres on Hallmark on August 23rd while Channel Five shows season five on Fridays.....NYPD Blue chief Esai Morales will join Jericho.....Cherry Jones will play the first female President on 24.....Dawson Creek star Kerr Smith goes into CSI New York......Geena Davis is rumoured to be replacing Mandy Patinkin in Criminal Minds.....Michael Rappoport will take a recurring role in My Name Is Earl....Danny Glover will play a love interest for Sally Field in Brothers and Sisters next season......

30 Rock arrives and Nip/Tuck is nicked

Channel Five have bought the acclamed NBC sitcom 30 Rock

The show was nominated for the best comedy emmy yesterday and there were noms also for stars Tiny Fey and Alec Bladwin. Set by behind the scenes of a Saturday Night Live style show, 30 Rock will air on both Channel Five and the networks digital channels.

In other news, Nip/Tuck will move from SKY One to FX for its next season. The plastic surgery drama originates from FX in the US.
