Joey and out

NBC are set to cut their losses on Joey. The Channel Five Friends spin-off has struggled since it started. After a poor first season showing, the so-called revamp did little to reverse its fortunes.

Only four million tuned in recently, a disastrous rating by any standards. It looks like NBC will burn off the remaining episodes shot in the Summer after confirming its cancellation next month.

At least the Matt LeBlanc series lasted longer than Lisa Kudrow's show The Comeback. Another former Friend returns to network television in the fall, lets hope Matthew Perry has better luck

Arrested Undeveloped

Looks like Arrested Development could be over after all. After weeks of speculation that the cult comedy was to be picked up by Showtime following its Fox cancellation, the show may be done.. Creator Mitch Hurwitz says he doesn't think he wants to continue and Showtime don't want the show without him. Hurwitz hints that the Bluth family could return in a feature film. Although it could all be a negotiating tactic in Showtime discussions.
There's worse news for fans in the UK, it looks like the BBC have not picked up the third series, so we'll have to wait for somebody else to pick it up.

New comedy on Living

Living TV will premiere the final series of Will and Grace on Thursday April 6th. They will partner it with the cancelled 2004 comedy Significant Others.

If you are busy watching House at 9pm, then don't worry they will repeat it at 7pm on Sundays along with the UPN series Love Inc with former Dawsons Creek star Busy Phillips.

Book of Daniel

ITV4 is to screen the controversial, but shortlived drama, Book of Daniel. The NBC series stars Aidan Quinn and tells the story of a priest who turns to a white robed and bearded Jesus to help deal with his gay son and drug taking daughter. NBC pulled the series just four episodes into its 13 episode run.
ITV4 are also showing three other cancelled US dramas, Robbery Homicide Division (previously shown by SKY), Haunted (shown twice by Channel Four) and Big Apple (shown by FTN). Why they think anyone wants to see any of these again is a complete mystery.....

New shows for Channel Five

Channel Five add Grey's Anatomy to their collection of US imports on Thursday April 6th . The medical drama, currently a hit huge stateside, premieres at 10pm with House, a far superior show in my view, moving back to 9pm.
Earlier in the week NCIS makes its terrestrial debut. Its already shown on FX in the UK. Created by the team behind JAG it stars Mark Harmon and Sasha Alexander and a Man from Uncle - David McCullum. Not to confused with CSI, this drama about the Navy is well worth watching.

Oscar winners set to Rescue Me

Having already confirmed that Oscar winner Susan Sarandon is set for a multi-episode arc on Rescue Me, the award winning SKY one series, is set to add another A lister. Marisa Tomei is to sign on for series three of the Denis Leary show. Tomei will play fireman Tommy Gavin's sister-in-law. Season two is currently airing here on Sunday nights.

Big stars, new shows

James Woods, Jeff Goldblum, Dennis Miller, Joe Montegna, Anne Heche, Stanley Tucci, Peter Strauss, Tom Berenger, Alicia Silverstone and Kim Cattrall are among the A list stars on board for TV pilots in the US. But the British networks are queuing up for the new Aaron Sorkin penned series which stars Matthew Perry, Bradley Whitford and Timothy Busfield. It already has a 13 episode order and is behind the scenes of a Saturday Night Live style comedy show.

Lost

Andy Duncan, Head of Channel 4, tells me that Lost season two will definitely be on air in May. They had intended to bring it back in August, but they have bowed to public demand. Expect it return with Big Brother.
